Welcome to the C.P.A.R.A. Homepage!
The Camp Pouch Amateur Radio Association is a small group of dedicated amateur radio operators that manage the Amateur Radio activities at the William H. Pouch Boy Scout Camp in Staten Island, NY. Camp Pouch is a 100+ acre facility owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. The Amateur (Ham) Radio group promotes the ham radio hobby as well as helps to educate the scouts in electronics, RF propagation, merit badge counseling, amateur radio licensing, kit building, and on air activities.
The station is very active year round. We are probably one of the most active scout stations in the country. When the guys are not on the air, they are probably building something, fixing something, or catching up on the QSL'ing. However whenever they have time they activate the station and help fill up the log book and keep the lights on in the event any scouts passing through would like to stop in and check out the station. If you work the station feel free to send us a card! Every card received is hung up and put on display and the station does respond 100%! We do ask that you send us an SASE if possible as the guys fund the station completely out of their own pocket and every little bit helps keep making things better.
